One of the best things we have ever done was to sign up to sponsor O’Neill Racing. We have had such fun with enjoyable mornings when we go to see our horses, enjoy Jackdaws hospitality and great days at the races.
As owners we find the care given to our horses and the whole owners’ experience absolutely wonderful, we thoroughly enjoy being involved at O’Neill Racing.

Jonjo has trained horses for my family & I for many decades now. We have had many successes with some incredible memories over the years not least winning the Gold Cup with Synchronised, Grand National with Don’t Push It and Royal Ascot winner Well Sharp.
It is an exciting new chapter with AJ joining Jonjo as joint trainer. I wish them continued success under the new flag of O’Neill Racing.
As an owner with Jonjo for nearly twenty years, I have always had a top-class experience in terms of being looked after as an owner and really enjoy my visits to Jackdaws Castle, getting up close to seeing my horses in action. It is an exciting chapter seeing AJ progress to joint trainer and I look forward to following the continued success of O’Neill Racing in the coming years.
Jackdaws Castle has superb facilities for our horses in a wonderful setting high in the Cotswolds with breathtaking views. There is no better way to watch your horses in training than travelling alongside them in Jonjo’s 4×4 on a crisp, clear morning. The facilities at Jackdaws are truly 5-star and the horses receive first-class care and attention from the hard working team. However the icing on the cake is our friendship with Jacqui and Jonjo. They provide a warm welcome and wonderful hospitality every time we visit – both for us and our friends and family.
The Hitchins’ family have been owners at Jackdaws Castle since Jonjo moved there from Cumbria in 2001.
Since then we have had considerable success and also some tribulations, but overall we have enjoyed a great deal of fun and excitement. The welfare of the horses is always paramount. The team at Jackdaws is open and honest and their relationship with their owners is first class – we always feel part of the Jackdaws’ family – the camaraderie there is truly special.
Upon entering the yard one can immediately sense a deep culture of care, teamwork and passion for the magnificent animals in their charge. When you enter the O’Neill group you become part of a family with history, expertise and passion for an incredibly nuanced sport.
The regard and time taken to assess, monitor and support horses, on and off the track, seems to be ingrained in the DNA of these guys right from initial training, all the way to retirement.

Owning A Racehorse
There are various ways to become a racehorse owner
Our expert team will guide you through the ownership process from start to finish to make it an easy and enjoyable process to start your thrilling journey in ownership, whether it’s sole or corporate ownership or as part of a syndicate or partnership. For a horse to race in your name, the name of a Company, or for a Partnership, Syndicate or Racing Club, these details should first be registered online with the BHA (British Horseracing Authority).
The O’Neill Racing team will help you with the whole process from registering as an owner, choosing your colours and any other questions you may have.

VAT is fully reclaimable on horse purchases, training fees and additional costs through our yard sponsorship scheme with the Wasdell Group. Our team can guide and assist with the process.
In addition to the initial purchase cost of the horse, you should account for the following costs:
